Das österreichische Unternehmen Lenzing hat 2017 EcoVero als nachhaltige Faser eingeführt. Der Herstellungs- und Produktionsprozess verbraucht 50 % weniger Emissionen, halb so viel Energie und Wasser sowie chlorfreie Bleiche. EcoVero-Fasern sind mit dem EU-Umweltzeichen
zertifiziert, was bedeutet, dass sie während ihres gesamten Lebenszyklus hohe Umweltstandards erfüllen.
Besonders wichtig ist, dass das Holz von Lenzing aus verantwortungsvoll bewirtschafteten Wäldern bezogen wird. Lenzing wird jährlich auf seinen "Beitrag
zum Schutz der Wälder, seine Transparenz und sein Engagement für Nachhaltigkeit" geprüft und ist mit dem *FSC™ und **PEFC™ zertifiziert, was beweist, dass das verwendete Holz aus einer nachhaltigen Quelle stammt.
EcoVero wird in der Regel mit anderen Stoffen gemischt und ist eine modifizierte und etwas teurere Version von Viskose, die jedoch eine geringere Umweltbelastung aufweist. Die aus den Strängen der EcoVero-Faser hergestellte Viskose ähnelt Seide und verleiht ihr ein luxuriöses Gefühl und Aussehen. EcoVero ist antibakteriell, bietet eine effiziente Feuchtigkeitsregulierung,
ist leicht und atmungsaktiv, knitter- und pillingfrei und wird für Strickwaren, Sportbekleidung, formelle Kleidung, Unterwäsche, Mäntel und vieles mehr verwendet.
